HAZE POLICY - In light of the current hazy weather, we would like to inform our parents of the policy regarding this as conveyed by the Ministry of Education.

You are well advised to monitor haze conditions particularly if your child has any respiratory ailments.  We will be talking to the Sports programme provider, to discuss a contingency plan, should sports be cancelled due to the 3-hour PSI reading.  To find out more, please access the following links:

http://www.haze.gov.sg/

HEALTH POLICY - The following is an extract from our Handbook:
QUOTE:
09 CONTAGIOUS DISEASES, PARTIALLY RECOVERED CHILDREN AND MEDICATION:

Children who contract an infectious disease must obtain a certificate of fitness issued by a registered medical practitioner in Singapore, before resuming school. Also, please keep us informed if your child has contracted an infectious disease, as we are obliged to maintain a proper record of such.  Your timely advice in this regard will also enable us to alert parents of other students to be on the lookout for signs of the disease contracted so the spread of infection could be contained.  Please be considerate and do ensure that your child is completely recovered and is past the infectious period prior to sending him/her back to school.
We cannot medicate your child at school, so if your child is receiving medication, please ensure he/she is kept at home and properly treated before resuming school.  You are advised against medicating your child at school.

Note - we are under instructions from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education to report cases of most communicable diseases. They include Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease, Chicken Pox, Rubella, Mumps and Avian Disease. Please call us if you require clarification in this regard and we also invite you to visit the following website for further information. The school should be notified immediately, therefore when children contract these diseases, so we can do the needful.  Please note that medical practitioners are also required to notify the authorities in the above circumstances.

FIRST FULL WEEK - In the following pages, the teachers have given you a gist of the week we had.  They were able to achieve their plans for the children and we will be resuming written work for the older children.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS -  Reading with children resumes on Monday, 29 August 2016.  We have been informed that some of our parents could not open the response form that we sent out last week.  We are appending the link again so you could sign up, to volunteer to be a reading parent and/or to assist us at our events.

'DROP 'N GO' and 'PICK 'N GO': Many thanks for helping us with this arrangement.  We do have some “teething” issues and aim to eventually handle the traffic along Broadrick Road in the most efficient manner.  We have give you car decals to identify vehicles driven by our parents.  Please do display them prominently on the top left of your windscreen.  This is essential to our operation.  We are aware that some of you have to receive these decals and we are pursuing the matter with the printers.

PARKING: Within our premises, should only be done in the demarcated spaces that are parallel to Mountbatten Road. Please do not park parallel to Broadrick Road (in our compound) nor within the yellow boxes and before a 'Fire Assembly Point'.

We request that you respect the directions we have posted and assist us in keeping these areas clear.

FRIDAYS: We have assigned every Friday as ‘Rag’ Day, with the last Friday of the month, declared as; ‘Glam-up’ Day.  We invite you to encourage your children to be creative and wear 'rags' or 'glams'  (national and ethnic outfits included) as they please on the days allocated.

Week's Up - 19th August 2016

Hello and welcome, and welcome back, very specifically, to Term I of our 2016-2017 academic year. Please visit http://www.montessori.edu.sg/doc/MFCCalendar2016-2017_BR.pdf to view our calendar for the year. Please also note that school news can be viewed at:

The first few days saw us settling in the new joiners and then along came the ‘big guys’ - taller, smarter and with great big smiles, bright eyes and some cheery quips about their holidays.  It was a good feeling to see everyone at work in our environments and it only takes a few weeks away from the materials for the ‘want’ to show! The children embraced the materials and worked through the day with obvious enthusiasm and focus.  A lovely sight to see!  Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

As this has been a short week, with material work planned for  the classes, the folders will be sent on Friday, 26th August 2016.  We are reinforcing concepts and re-presenting the materials in the period leading up to the above date.  All writing work and e-learning will commence thereafter.

Parent Volunteers - we need you!
Please click on this link to access the form provided, for you to volunteer at school.  We do need your support and any assistance that you can offer is most appreciated.  We are looking for volunteers to read with the children, and to help us with our varied cultural calendar.  If you need assistance with filling the e-form, please do call us.  We would appreciate hearing from you, by Monday 22nd August, 2016.
